The 12 Steps
-
We admit that we are powerless over our dependencies and that our lives have
become unmanageable.
-
We come to believe that a power greater than ourselves can restore us to
sanity.
-
We make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to God as we understand
him.
-
We make a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
-
We admit to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of
our wrongs.
-
We are entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
-
We humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings.
-
We make a list of all persons we have harmed and become willing to make amends
to them all.
-
We make direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so
would injure them or others.
-
We continue to take a personal inventory, and promptly admit when we are wrong.
-
We seek through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with
God, praying only for the knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry
that out.
-
Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we try to carry
this message to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
